“感动” VS”激动”(gǎn dòng / jī dòng)

Both 感动 and 激动 can show a person’s change of emotion after he/she is stimulated. They all have two structures.

1 A 使B 感动/ A 使B 激动 他的话使我非常感动——-What he said moved me very much. 他的话使我非常激动——-What he said made me very excited.

2 sb. 感动得……/ sb. 激动得…… 他感动得流下了眼泪——He was moved to tears. 他激动得流下了眼泪——He was so excited that he cried.

“感动” means touch, move, attach. It is a positive word.”激动” means excite, boil. It is the impulse of your emotion. It can be excitement or atmosphere.

Pay Attention: “感动” can express sympathy, can be used in passive sentence pattern. While “激动” can’t voice sympathy and used in the passive sentence either.

Common phrase

感动: 被……感动了—- be moved by 深受感动—–be deeply moved 太感动人了——sth is very moving

激动: 内心/情绪 激动—–heart/emotion 激动得跳了起来—–too excited to jump 显得很激动—–looks like very excited 激动了好长一段时间—–being excited about sth for a long time 别激动—-calm down/ don’t be mad
